Q: How do I know if I am eligible for the program?
There are a few basic requirements for our program. Learners must be:
18 years of age or older
out of school
able to set goals and show progress
demonstrate a need for our program
Please note: We are as accommodating as possible when it comes to eligibility for our program. The best way to move forward is to call us or drop in to schedule your free assessment, which will help us to determine what your best goal path would be.
Q: How long does it take?
The length of time depends on your skill levels, your goals and the amount of time you can give to learning.
Q: How much does it cost?
Our classes are free. We are funded by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development
Q: When can I start classes?
The Training & Learning Centre classes are offered on a continuous intake. There is no set start date and you can register at any time. You can attend on a full-time or part-time basis. Classes generally follow the regular school year, which means we may shut down for the summer months.
Q: How many learners are in a Training & Learning Centre class?
We offer small group classes, which allows for more one-to-one support. There can be up to 6 learners per class.
Q: What commitment do I have to make when I attend a class?
We ask learners to commit to specific goals and a schedule that works for them.
Q: What can I do after I have completed my training?
Once you have completed your training or upgrading, we will help you transition to your next step of employment, training, education or independence.
Q: If I am on OW, can I attend classes?
Yes. In most cases, attending classes at the Training & Learning Centre can help you meet your participation agreement requirements.
Q: What are your class and office hours?
The Training & Learning Centre is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The classroom is closed during July and August. Phone calls and emails will be monitored if you need to contact someone at the TLC over the summer.
